Sajama is located in the department of Oruro, bordering with Chile, it is part of the Western Cordillera and is characterized by being a volcanic area. The Sajama National Park, where it is the Sajama volcano, considered the highest in Bolivia with 6542m. Besides geological wonders of nature formed by the flora, fauna, hot springs and cultural delights as polychrome chullpas (pre-Columbian funeral buildings), cave paintings, pucarás and colonial architecture. The park is the first protected area in Bolivia being declared a nature reserve in 1939 because of its queñua (tare Polilepis pecan) growing on its slopes and constitute the highest forests of the world.
First Day: Departure from the city of La Paz, on the way we will visit the Church of Curawara, located in a small town, to visit its beautiful chapel, only by the presence of several colonial paintings on the walls inside the temple, in the way we will observe ancient Aymara tombs, before arriving at Sajama National Park, 6 hour trip and then accommodation in Refugio.
